Pricing is calculated based on the size of skip you need, its intended contents, the length of time you need it for, your location and the permit requirements of your local council.
In order to leave your skip on a public road or footpath you will need to get a permit, at a cost, from your local council. Alternatively, as a registered operator, we may be able to obtain one on your behalf (depending on your local council). Prices vary from council to council but, in all cases, a minimum of 5 days' notice must be given.
For skips placed on private property, no permit is required.
If your skip is to go on a public road or pathway, you will need to obtain a permit as it's illegal to place a skip on a public highway without one.
Some councils require you to request a permit directly yourself, while others accept applications from skip hire providers on your behalf. We can advise you on the best procedure for your circumstances if you call our office.
We provide advice on the best size and type of skip for your job and arrange a permit if necessary. We'll also deliver your skip, as a same day or next day service, wherever it's needed and collect it once it's full or your job is complete.
Once collected, we will then ensure that as much of its contents as possible are reused or recycled.
Bricks, rubble, hard core and uncontaminated soil can be put into skips, as well as general domestic waste like furniture, furnishings, fixtures, non-electrical fittings, wood, plastic and metal.
For legal reasons, there are certain items that cannot be disposed of in a skip. These include all electrical items, clinical waste, gas bottles, solvents, batteries, liquids, asbestos, plasterboard and tyres.
You can hire the skip for as long as you like but, if it's being placed on a public road or pathway, you'll need to check how long your permit is valid for and apply for another one if necessary.
As long as payment has been made and you've given instructions to our team on how to access your property (if required) then we can deliver your skip in your absence.
Just call us on 01472 309784 to arrange collection. Please allow at least 24 hours.
Our drivers take great care when delivering and collecting skips, however it's always a good idea to use some wood or cardboard as padding if at all possible to minimise any risk of damage.
Most materials, including wood, metal and green waste, can be recycled. Our aim at Skip Hire Grimsby is to recycle or reuse at least 80% of all waste.
